Installing a local Minecraft server

Set up a local Minecraft server using StreamToEarn with PaperMC 1.20.1 (recommended) or another version. The server is used to run plugins (mini-games) that build an arena for interactive streams with a single command. Video walkthrough →

Install JDK 22

To run the Minecraft server, you need to install JDK version 22. After you download and install the Java Development Kit (JDK), restart the StreamToEarn app and possibly your computer. This only needs to be done once.

Install new server

After installing the StreamToEarn program and logging in, you'll see a widget on the right side of the screen that allows you to set up and start a local Minecraft server. This server is accessible only from your local network — only computers connected to your local Wi-Fi will be able to join.

Select installation directory and accept EULA

In the installation window, two actions are required:

  1. Select a folder where the Minecraft server files will be deployed. If you select a non-empty folder or simply the C drive, the program will automatically create a folder for the server files.
  2. To install and start the Minecraft server, you need to agree to the EULA from the Minecraft server developers.

Install plugins

After installing the server, you can add mini-game plugins. Remember to restart the server after the plugin installation.

All plugins have their own commands for starting a game and executing different functions, which are specified in the preset as a trigger function.

Join the server

To join the server, you need the Java Edition of Minecraft with the same client version as the server — in our case 1.20.1. You can easily change the game client version in the Minecraft launcher. Launch the game, go to Multiplayer, then Direct Connection, and enter IP: localhost.

Terminal

If your server does not start, check the Terminal for the reason. To quickly resolve the issue, use our GPT assistant by providing it with the text from the Terminal. You can also manage the server through the Terminal without entering the game.
